Project Description
The Westview Tower is a 13 story retirement/elderly apartment complex in Knoxville, TN. There were severe structural problems discovered in the ceiling of the 13th floor. The roof slab had corroded reinforcing steel and it extended throughout the entire 10,000 square foot (929 m2) footprint. Concrete was removed & replaced up to a depth of 2”. A polypropylene-fiber-reinforced, silica-fume enhanced, dry-mix shotcrete was site-batched at ground level and delivered to the 13th floor using a 1300 cfm air compressor. The shotcrete was hand-trimmed and a light flash coat applied.
